Who We Are

Mission: To create opportunities for individuals in our community to connect, grow and learn in an ever-changing Jewish landscape.

The JCC of Northern NJ touches the lives of hundreds of participants through its core programs and communal service initiatives. Founded as a non-profit, voluntary organization in Hackensack in 1924, the JCC helped a generation of Jewish immigrants assimilate into American society. The organization promoted fellowship and community spirit through its array of educational, recreational, social, and cultural programming for individuals and families. That mission continues to this day through outreach, connection, and engagement guided and inspired by Jewish values. The JCC of Northern NJ is redefining and realigning to meet the community’s needs through innovative experiences and programs.

What We Do

Some of our programming includes:

J on the Go: Where the J goes, families gather!

J on the Go is JCC of Northern NJ’s outreach initiative to engage families raising young Jewish children from prenatal to 3-years-old. It is a mobile set of experiences that reach families in communal spaces. The pop-up style of programming in public places such as parks, playgrounds, supermarkets, libraries and more, aims to bring Jewish moments to secular spaces creating Jewish community in every neighborhood across northern New Jersey.

JCC Active Seniors:

Our Active Seniors are a vibrant, vital part of the JCCNNJ. The core of all scheduled events centers around creating opportunities for connection — with staff, volunteers, and especially each other. Through the consistency and variety of activities offered each Tuesday and Thursday our program continues to grow in camaraderie, spirit and participation.

Open Hearts Open Homes:

Open Hearts Open Homes invites Israeli teens whose lives have been forever changed due to terrorism – the loss of a loved one, living in constant fear of the next attack, not knowing life without sirens – to spend three weeks during the summer enjoying respite, home hospitality, travel camp activities, and fun with American host families.
