Who We Are
Lois E. Marshall Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR) at Bergen Community College serves the intellectual and social needs of a vibrant community of lifelong learners ages 55 and older. Since 1999, the ILR has been offering non-credit programming for a nominal fee to its members through a peer-to-peer learning model.
Courses are taught by fellow members and experts from the larger community in wide range of topics including literature, history, science, studio art, current events, personal finance for seniors, music, foreign language, health, yoga, art history, meditation and more. Both in-person and online courses are available. ILR members also enjoy additional membership benefits as well as events on campus.
ILR program offers couses on BCC’s main campus in Paramus and online. For the fall 2024 semester, the ILR will also be offering courses in BBC’s Hackensack location, the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center.
What We Do
Each semester the ILR looks to grow our course offerings. Should you want to teach a course, please reach out to us at ilr@bergen.edu. Please note, ILR Instructors are entitled to free membership during the semester they are teaching.
