Who We Are

Mission: To serve as an agent of hope, partnering with others to provide need driven services that improve the quality of life and encourage greater self-sufficiency.

St. Paul’s Community Development Corporation (SPCDC) was established in 1990, building on outreach efforts by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, which has served Paterson, New Jersey, for over 200 years. SPCDC aims to provide human services like education, workforce training, and housing support to over 5,000 individuals annually. Rooted in the community, SPCDC helps break the cycle of homelessness and promote self-sufficiency. Supported by a diverse staff and volunteers, the organization continues its mission to improve the lives of Paterson’s residents through comprehensive social services.

What We Do

SPCDC programs respond to the needs of our community by providing comprehensive, supportive, social services that can break the cycle of homelessness and move an individual from emergency shelter to transitional housing, to employment and a permanent home. These human services are staff-driven and are administered on and off-site.

Our current programs: Food Pantry, Emergency Men’s Shelter, Next Step Workforce Development, AmeriCorps, Full Service Community Schools Initiative, Housing & Neighborhood Development.
