Opportunities From: Bergen Volunteers

Our nursery is scheduled to open this fall and will provide childcare support for residents who are working, attending school, or participating in trade programs.

We are looking for:

1 paid nursery staff member 2 daytime volunteers

If you enjoy spending time with little ones and want to help, give a mother the opportunity to work toward her goals, this could be a wonderful way to serve.

Because volunteers will be working directly with children, all required training and background screening must be completed before volunteering.

Volunteer Requirements

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application before moving forward with an opportunity.

For opportunities that involve direct interaction with our residents and/or children, additional training and screening requirements apply. This may include a criminal background check and driving record check, when applicable.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities. We are especially looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers who can help us better connect with and support the families we serve.

Sometimes a mother simply needs an extra set of hands.

We are looking for trained and/or certified volunteers who can provide onsite infant babysitting for up to 2–3 hours as needed at the maternity home.

This is a wonderful opportunity to support a mother while she takes care of an important responsibility, appointment, class, or other need.

Volunteers must complete the required training and/or certification before providing care.

Do you love getting creative? Bring your ideas, your creativity, and maybe even a friend or two!

We are looking for creative and enthusiastic volunteers to lead or assist with arts and crafts activities for our in-house residents.

It's a great opportunity to meet and make new friends, spend time with our residents, and create something together. Individuals, groups, and existing clubs are welcome to take on a project!

Projects can take place on weekday afternoons or weekends, depending on availability and the needs of our residents.

We can help provide the details and materials needed for your project, or you are welcome to bring or donate your own supplies.

Our annual Seasons of the Hearts Gala is held in early October and is our largest fundraiser of the year!

We are looking for approximately 5 volunteers to help with fun, hands-on craft projects and preparations leading up to the Gala.

This is a wonderful opportunity to get creative, meet new people, and work alongside others while helping us prepare for a very special event. Bring a friend, get a group together, and enjoy making something meaningful!

Do you love organizing, sorting, and making sure everything has a place? Kathy’s Closet may be the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!

Kathy’s Closet is our donation and distribution area, where we organize and store in-kind donations for our Lifeline clients, special families, residents, and partner organizations. All items in Kathy’s Closet are brand new and donated to support the families and organizations we serve.

We are looking for approximately 3 volunteers who can provide regular assistance with:

Organizing and maintaining inventory Counting and sorting donations Tracking incoming donations Preparing donations for distribution

This is a great opportunity to roll up your sleeves, work alongside others, and make sure donated items get into the hands of families who need them.

Our Mentor Mothers Program connects caring volunteers with mothers in our program who can benefit from encouragement, guidance, friendship, and positive support.

Help us make the holidays extra special for the families we serve!

We will be hosting our 2nd Annual Client Christmas Party, with more than 20 families expected to attend.

We are looking for:

8 volunteers to help with our arts and crafts station 5 volunteers to help throughout the event, assist with different stations, and lend a helping hand wherever needed

Come celebrate, serve, and help create special memories for our families!

The date, time, and location will be finalized and shared by the end of September.
