Bergen County Division of Family Guidance - Reflections

Reflections is a teen improvisational theatre program that runs out of the Bergen County Division of Family Guidance. We are actively recruiting teen volunteers, 9^th -12^th grade, who can make a commitment to a community service and earn volunteer hours, (which of course will look wonderful on a college resume!) The Reflections group meets on Tuesday evenings in Hackensack, from 5:00pm-8:00pm, and the time is flexible for rehearsals and performances.

Reflections meets through the school year to prepare and present improvised scenes on a wide range of issues to a variety of audiences. Scenarios are frozen at a point of conflict and the cast members are trained to stay in character while they talk to the audience. This is a way for us to provide a forum for discussion to take place in a fun, creative and educational way. Topics include cyberbullying, peer pressure, parent/teen conflicts, balancing academic and social life, etc. We perform for middle schools, high schools, community groups, client groups, parent groups, etc.

It’s Free and has Open Enrollment. That means that we accept teens throughout the Summer!

Each week cast members need to communicate which session that they prefer, as spaces will be limited. They cannot just show up without securing a spot; applications & consent forms need to be submitted in advance.

Cast members can attend as many sessions that fit their schedule.

Open to Bergen County teens entering 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade, or just finished with high school. Teens who are interested need to contact me and I will send them an application, consent forms and guidelines for the RISE program.
