Who We Are
Mission: To help adult residents improve their English so language may be one less obstacle to understanding, opportunity, and unity.
The Bergenfield Public Library’s English as a Second Language (ESL) Program has been serving the community since 1980. We offer individual and small group instruction to adults residents who want to improve their English. We seek volunteer tutors with a desire to make a difference in someone’s life. We are looking for volunteers who live in Bergenfield, NJ or a surrounding town.
What We Do
We offer individual and small group instruction to adults residents who want to improve their English.
The commitment is an hour per week. No teaching or foreign language experience is necessary. Volunteers receive free training and materials.
The program has been accredited by ProLiteracy and is an affiliate of Literacy New Jersey.
