Project Literacy of Greater Bergen County

Mission: To provide, support, and promote the expansion of adult literacy by offering free, one-on-one tutoring services to adults in need of basic literacy education, English language learning, and High School Equivalency Diploma preparation.

Founded in 1987, Project Literacy of Greater Bergen County is the only organization in this area providing FREE 1-on-1 adult basic literacy. We are accredited by ProLiteracy and affiliated with Literacy NJ.

We provide free one-on-one tutoring in:

• Adult Basic Literacy – reading and writing;

• English as a Second Language (ESL);

• Mathematics for the High School Equivalency exam.

Since 1987, Project Literacy has provided the gift of literacy to adults who confront life in Bergen County without the skills to effectively communicate. If you can read this, you have that gift. You are lucky. 150,000 of our neighbors cannot.
