Who We Are
Mission: To establish and support local communities of members, multi-generational volunteers, and service providers to enable seniors to remain living at home with an enhanced quality of life by facilitating access to affordable support services, social connections, and enrichment opportunities as initiated by its members and in cooperation with existing programs.
North Jersey Villages (NJV) is a not for profit organization aspiring to develop “virtual villages” for seniors who wish to remain living at home with an enhanced quality of life in the Bergen-Passaic County area. The all-volunteer NJV steering team and Board are members of the national Village to Village Network. Villages are grassroots, non-profit organizations created, funded and led by community residents to develop aging in community services and activities in their own neighborhoods for adults 60+.
What We Do
Currently the NJV HUB Village is developing “virtual villages” in Bergen County for older adults (60+) choosing “Aging at home but not alone!”
The purpose of “virtual villages” is to share:
- activities to enjoy with others
- a network of caring volunteers
- resources currently available for those who want to more affordably age at home in Bergen County
NJV HUB Village Membership includes:
- Calendar of Bergen County activities for seniors with message board for shared ride option for NJV HUB Village members
- Training for Healthcare Advocacy programs introduced by NJV HUB Village
- Database of member referred providers
- Local discounts negotiated for members age 60 and over
