Who We Are
Mission: To provide critical services to youth, families, veterans, and seniors.
The CHEER program is a helping hand for isolated, home-bound senior citizens aged 60+ who live in Bergen County. CHEER offers supportive services to senior citizens who wish to retain as much independence as possible.
CHEER is a no-fee service. We are not certified home health aides and we are not an on-demand service.
CHEER is funded by the Bergen County Division of Senior Services, client contributions, and Bergen Volunteer Center fundraising activities.
What We Do
Trained CHEER volunteers visit clients weekly and help with such tasks as:
- Grocery shopping
- Pharmacy pick-up
- Post office
- Library book return/pick-up
Often, having this type of assistance is all an elderly person needs to continue to remain in his or her own home.
Volunteers must have their own mode of transportation and commit to two hours a week. Create your own schedule and build a relationship with a senior citizen in need.
