Keeping Senior Neighbors Safe and Connected

This season, you can make a powerful difference for seniors who may be living with safety risks or loneliness. Bergen Volunteers' programs ensure seniors stay protected, supported, and connected.

The Shirvan Family Senior Safety Initiative (SFSSI) provides free home safety evaluations for seniors. Trained volunteers assess the home environment, identify risks, and offer personalized safety recommendations to prevent falls and injuries, often connecting seniors to CHEER or CHORE for additional support.

CHEER volunteers are matched with homebound seniors, offering companionship, conversation, and emotional support. Volunteers also help with essential errands.

CHORE volunteers provide minor home repairs and safety enhancements to help seniors stay safe and comfortable in their homes.
