Every other Saturday, Sarah knows someone is coming just to see her. Since entering
foster care eight months ago, 10-year-old Sarah has changed homes, schools, and routines several times. But one thing has remained constant: her CASA volunteer. During regular visits, they color, play games, and talk about school, friends, and how things are going.
By spending consistent one-on-one time together, Sarah's CASA volunteer can see how she's adjusting in her new foster home, ask about her new school, and ensure her physical and emotional needs are being met. Those firsthand observations give Sarah an unbiased voice in court and help keep her best interests at the center of every decision.
As an Agency Member of Bergen Volunteers, Bergen CASA is part of a network committed to connecting caring individuals with meaningful opportunities to serve the community.
Bergen CASA urgently needs more volunteer Advocates to visit foster children and speak up for their best interests in court. An expedited summer training will be held over two weeks starting in mid-July, with an additional training class planned for September.
