Description

Help Tenafly Nature Center conduct a Boundary Walk to ensure that the borders of the preserve are being properly maintained, that no encroachments of the preserved space have occurred, and that any litter accumulated along the boundary (near homes and streets) is removed.

This walk is done prior to spring growth, when trees are free of leaves and the terrain is clear. Volunteers are needed for at least 3 hours to help along specific sections of the boundary

  • Adults (who can manage uneven terrain and an occasional vigorous walk) please meet us at 9:00 am and you may be directed to drive to another location along the TNC border
  • Teens 14+ meet us at 9:00 am and we will set out on foot from TNC pavilion
  • Families with younger volunteers please consider joining us at 9:15 am  and we will set out on foot from TNC pavilion

Meet in the TNC education pavilion, for location assignments and supplies. Older groups will be asked to drive to a different section of the preserve. The event will be held entirely outdoors, so please dress appropriately. Please wear sturdy walking shoes and bring work gloves for the off-trail litter pick up components. Smartphones will be needed to document findings. In case of inclement weather, call 201-568-6093 for an update.

Register today and please let us know how many volunteers to expect so that we can plan appropriately for gear.

All hours are eligible for school volunteer requirements.
