Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and organized individual to volunteer as a Support Group Host for Job Seekers. This role involves facilitating a safe and welcoming environment for individuals seeking employment, providing peer support, and offering guidance through group discussions, workshops, and resources. The volunteer host will be responsible for coordinating group activities, ensuring all participants have an opportunity to share their experiences, and assisting job seekers in navigating their job search journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Support Group Sessions: Lead regular virtual or in-person group sessions where job seekers can share their challenges, experiences, and successes, fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
  • Provide Emotional and Peer Support: Offer encouragement and help create a sense of community among participants to reduce feelings of isolation during the job search process.
  • Organize Workshops/Resources: Help organize and share relevant resources, such as resume building, interview preparation, job search strategies, and career development advice.
  • Ensure Group Engagement: Encourage active participation, manage group dynamics, and ensure that all members feel heard and supported.
  • Maintain Group Communication: Provide ongoing support between group sessions through email, chat, or other communication channels, answering questions, and offering advice when needed.
  • Monitor Progress and Follow Up: Track participants' progress, offer positive reinforcement, and help them set achievable goals for their job search.
  • Provide Feedback: Share observations on the group’s overall effectiveness, participant needs, and any suggested improvements to the program coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in group facilitation, counseling, coaching, or similar roles is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to engage and motivate others, active listening skills, and a passion for helping others succeed.
  • Empathy: A genuine desire to support individuals facing challenges in their job search.
  • Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain schedules, and organize materials for group sessions.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable with both in-person and virtual settings (if applicable) and able to adapt to the needs of diverse individuals.
  • Commitment: Ability to commit [specify time commitment, e.g., weekly sessions for 3 months].

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with job seekers or individuals facing employment barriers.
  • Knowledge of job search strategies and employment-related resources.
  • Experience using video conferencing tools (for virtual sessions).
