Volunteers are urgently required to help residents in a 6-story building with 152 apartments at 111 West Street, Englewood NJ 07631. The basement and floor 1 is flooded and the elevator is out of service. Residents on the first floor have been evacuated to hotels and other locations. Residents are largely elderly and some are disabled. Cleaning crews are expected on site tomorrow to start clearing away the debris. Volunteers are urgently required to assess residents' wellbeing and immediate needs.
What is needed
- as many volunteers as possible to knock on doors to check if remaining residents are: a) OK or b) require help eg. food, prescription meds collections (the nearest Shop Rite is inaccessible due to the flooding); or c) help with evacuating the building
- residents are English, Spanish and Korean speaking
